全日本ロードレース第2戦「MFJスーパーバイクレースinもてぎ」は土曜と日曜にそれぞれ15ラップ、20ラップのレースで開催された。事前に行われた2日間のテストでは総合のトップタイムを記録し、DUCATI team KAGAYAMAは大きな可能性をもってウィークに挑んだ。
2レース開催により、土曜日の午前中に40分間の計時予選が行われ、水野涼はもてぎのコースレコードを更新し1,46.692をマークする。ヤマハファクトリーがそれを上回り2番手となるも、セカンドベストタイム1,46.777を記録、アベレージの良いタイムでの走行でレース1はセカンドグリッドからのスタート。レース2はJSBクラスではドカティ初のポールポジションを獲得しファーストグリッドからのスタートとなった。

The 2nd round of All Japan Championship “MFJ Superbike race in Motegi” was held under unexpected warm condition at Mobility Resort Motegi which it the circuit MotoGP is also held at later part of the season. 2 races were held on the weekend, 15 laps on Saturday and 20 laps on Sunday.
As at the 2 days test a week before, Mizuno had set the fastest lap time over all, DUCATI Team KAGAYAMA came back to the circuit with the big expectation for the weekend, and Mizuno had proved the performance of himself and Ducati Panigale V4R on Saturday at 40 min. qualifying session, set 1, 46.692 which had exceeded the course record. Although he finished overall qualifying position on 2nd, his second best lap time of 1, 46.777 confirmed Mizuno to start from the pole position for the second race on Sunday. This is the first ever pole position of Ducati in JSB category.

土曜の午後に行われた決勝レース1は15ラップ。ホールショットを決めた水野だが直後の混乱で一旦は2番手に後退。そして2ラップ目に入ったストレートで再びトップに立つ。真後ろにヤマハファクトリーのチャンピオン中須賀を従えてトップを走行。1分47秒台と昨年より1秒ほど速いラップを刻んでレースを展開、後続を引き離して2台の争いになる。
中須賀を抑えトップを走行つづけた水野だが、11ラップ目に前を許してしまう。レース後半にそなえてタイム的にはまだ余力を残していた水野、中須賀の背後につけ挽回を狙うが抜くまでには至らず僅差で2位チェッカー。

The 15 laps race on Saturday, Mizuno had made the great start to jump into turn 1 first, but he had given a way due to the pack and decided to stay behind at the second position. He set himself to be at the first position again on the second lap, and lead the race followed by Nakasuga, factory Yamaha. The race pace was 1 second quicker than the previous year, but he was overtaken by 12 times JSB champion Nakasuga at lap 11.
Mizuno stayed just behind Nakasuga till the end of the race, keeping the same pace and tried to overtake him again at the last moment but he was forced to stay at 2nd position till the end.

日曜日はウィークで1番気温も上がり、25度以上と初夏を思わせる暑さで昨日より5ラップ多い20ラップの決勝。路面温度も上昇し、DUCATI team KAGAYAMAとして始動してから1番気温が高く、経験のないコンディションでのレース本番を迎えた。
ポールポジションからのスタートとなった水野だったが、レース早々に他車のクラッシュにより赤旗中断になり、仕切り直しのレースでスタートに失敗、オープニングラップを5番手で戻ってくる。水野は2ラップ目のダウンヒルストレートで長島をパスして4番手に、3ラップ目に野左根をオーバーテイクし3番手に上がるが、その時点で逃げ切り体勢のヤマハファクトリー2台とは3秒の差が開いていた。ペースの上がらない水野は後続を引き離して3番手をキープする。
後半には更にタイムを落とすことになったが20ラップを消化し3位でチェッカー。悔しいレースになったがDUCATI team KAGAYAMA3レース連続の表彰台を記録した。

On Sunday, the air temperature raised up to 25℃ which had changed the track condition from Saturday. DUCATI Team KAGAYAMA had never experienced with this high temperature condition as the team had launched only a few months ago when it was cold, and this gets to be another new adventure for the team and the rider.

予選もセカンドベストを記録し、勝ちにより近づいたウィークでしたが、レース1に関してはレース戦略の部分で中須賀に届かなかった。ラストスパートのところで水野も余力を残していたが、相手の余力のほうが大きかった。2位は嬉しいが超えなければいけない壁は高い。レース2ではポールポジションからスタートが出来たが水野のスタートの精度がまだ完璧ではなく出遅れてしまい、リカバリーをする間に離されてしまいました。
そして、日曜日のレース2・我々チームのデータ不足により補正したセッティングをライダーに渡せなかった。想定以上に高温になったコースに対応出来ず、想定したペースに持っていけなかったのが1番の敗因です。これからどんどん気温も暑くなるので、今日のデータをしっかり解析して次戦に生かします。
今回もたくさんのファンがサーキットに訪れてくれ、また多くのスポンサーのご支援をいただき、DUCATI team KAGAYAMAの戦う姿を多くの方々にアピールすることができました。前の壁は高いですが、簡単ではないがだからこそ挑む勝ちがあります。戦略も考え直して、次に挑みます

I’m proud of our rider as he had shown very strong performance in the qualify, and we were very close to the victory. He had his strategy at the last part of the race on Saturday but it didn’t work against to the 12 times champion as he had his strategy as well by his experiences and this is what our young rider would need to improve. We have to be happy to finish at 2nd position but we also had felt that we are still behind.
At the second race on Sunday, Mizuno was not able to make a good start as on Saturday and he was forced to spend some time to recover his position at the first part of the race. We, as the team also could not give him the best setting to perform maximum for 20 laps race with this warm condition, it had forced him to slow down his pace compared to Saturday. The air temperature will keep raising now, we have to analyze the data well and need to find the solution for upcoming races.

レース1では、負けてしまったことは悔しいですが、マシンの仕上がりもよく気持ちよく走れていたと思います。ヤマハファクトリーについていくことはできましたが抜けるまでの余裕はありませんでした。ですが、決勝で初めてヤマハの後ろを走ったことで自分達のウィークポイントもわかり、レース2に向けてアジャストしていったのですが、スタートで出遅れてしまったことと、ペースを挙げられない状況だったので苦しいレース展開になってしまいました。ただ、開幕戦鈴鹿や昨日のレースではトップ争いをするポテンシャルはあったので、今日のレースが全てではない。次のSUGOまで時間があるので、しっかり問題を見つけて次のSUGOこそは勝ちたい。
今回も、開幕戦につづいてピットウォークや応援席に多くのファンの方が来てくださり、またコースサイドでドゥカティの旗を振ってくれるのが見えました。皆様の応援が凄く力になっています。絶対に勝ちますのでサーキットにきて一緒に戦ってください。

I had a really bitter feeling to finish the race at 2nd position on Saturday as the bike performed well and I was able to give the good pace till the end. Although I was not enough to overtake the champion at the last minute even I’d stayed behind him till the end of the race which showed that my strategy didn’t work. The positive side is that I had learned a lot to stay behind Nakasuga, and found out where we need to improve.
We had made the small adjustments for Sunday based on what we had learned by Saturday race, but I had struggled a lot through the race due to my bad start and a small issue to keep up the pace. But I have to say that I’m so positive and confident as we are already showing the potential to race in the top group all the time since the first race of Suzuka and we can only be improved every race. We will review the data we had in the previous races now as there’s some time by the next race in Sugo, and I keep focusing for the victory.
Thank you for all our fans coming to see us at the pit walk, waving the flags at the grand stand. I had seen all those flags were waving for me every single lap when I get though the start and finish line and it definitely had given me the extra power. I promise that I’ll be stronger for them, for myself and for the team! I look forward to see them all again at the next race in Sugo.
